R. I. P. Bambi

One of the worst moments of my life was this morning, on my way to jiu jitsu, when a deer ran in front of my car in my neighborhood.

I'm fine, my car's fine. I'll just say multiple compound fractures to both front legs and it took the police about 15 minutes to come and put her out of her misery.

I don't think I'll ever get those images out of my mind.

Glad you are ok. Unfortunately deer/vehicle collisions are numerous and the humans often get severely injured in the crash.

Are you by chance part Native American? Or do you drive a car named after Native Americans?

My parents know a guy who does research -- and has written several papers, none of which have been published -- about how deer are much more likely to throw themselves in front of Native American descendants/cars named after Native Americans/etc. Something about sacrificing themselves to the Great Spirit.

Hrm. No Native American ancestry that I know of-- and I drive an Acura.

Interesting!
