Hot, damn hot.

It's damm hot here in Austin. 100 degrees this very minute. And still, I'd rather be doing some jiu jitsu instead of sitting in my air conditioned kitchen. I'm back on track with daily conditioning class at the regular gym in lieu of lunch... my knee and foot seem to be fine. I want to pick up with the oly lifting again soon. And I'm honestly considering coming in for a couple classes and just doing technique. (Of course when I start looking at the stack of folded gis in the morning, or casually dropping a spare athletic bra and tshirt in my gym bag, my husband gets all suspicious and huffy. And even if I evade his watchful eye, I bet the people at my academy will notice if I come back and train. Red hair has its pitfalls.)

My inlaws are taking us on a week long cruise at the end of August, whoohooo. Cruises aren't really my ideal form of travel. However, free cruises are not to be sniffed at. I just fear the nonstop eating.

Before that, I have a hearing in El Paso to attend in early August. Nothing like a trip to El Paso in August to make a cruise ship sound appealing.

Hope your training is going well...

It was the nonstop drinking that was my downfall. Pack as much liquor as you can. Then unpack some clothes and pack more liquor :). Most cruise ships have some sort of workout facility. It is usually lame but if you get some kind of workout each day you can offset much of the eating.

That's a good idea. However, I'm not a big drinker. I don't drink any alcohol in an average month- nor does my husband. Which is good, because this cruise line tells you up front that they don't allow you to bring alcohol on board (and I think they search your luggage.. where did I hear that? don't remember...)

Yeah...I go back and forth on cruises. Once I get burned out on airports, I'm dying for a floating hotel.

The food though, like you said, is so...so dangerous.

Actually...you know what would be cool? A BJJ cruise...kind of like the salsa ones, just...better:)

OMG. Megan... that's a great idea. I think it would be way more fun than a salsa cruise too; I'm not as energetic when I stay up till 4am. :) Maybe we should try to make this happen!

Went on one in Feb with Norwegian. At first it was easy not to eat too much because the buffets skeeved me out--parents letting kids take their own food... need I say more? However, Norwegian has these specialty restaurants where you pay a cover charge and the food is pretty good, especially the desserts. Once I discovered that, it was hard to stop eating. If your cruise is similar, my recommendation is you'll be less tempted to chug tons of mediocre buffet food. Save the special feasts for the end of the cruise or you'll want to eat there all the time. Anyway, have a great time! (And, "yes" to bjj cruise!!!!)
